Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations' Millennium General Assembly is the lifework of James Hampton a janitor who secretly built a large assemblage of religious art from scavenged materials. The work was only discovered in a garage after his death in 1964. His work took 14 years and was made from various scavenged materials such as aluminum and gold foil, old furniture, pieces of cardboard, light bulbs, jelly jars, shards of mirror and desk blotters held together with tacks, glue, pins and tape. He is often referred to as an 'outsider artist' though I dislike this term.
